Installing Lights in a Skull Mount

Have you ever wanted to spruce up your European skull mount? How about adding an impressive feature to your trophy? Skull Shine™ is your go-to for creating an extra wow factor to any skull mount. Here are detailed instructions on how to install lights to a skull mount.

Lighted Skull Mount Installation

To start the install of your Skull Shine™ light, you will need the following tools:

  • Skull Shine™ Light Kit
  • Skull Shine Pedestal
  • Power Drill
  • Scissors

Step 1: Prepare the Light Strip

Take the adhesive strip off the back of the LED light and fold it back on itself. This will allow the light to disperse in the skull mount.

Step 2: Insert the Lights

Tie a knot in the line to shorten the cable up a bit for whitetail skulls. For bigger skulls (elk, moose, Longhorn, etc.) you will need the extra length. The two shortest cables should be placed into either side of the nasal cavity, the longest wire and LED strip should be placed into the brain cavity.

Step 3: Secure the Lights

Take the zip tie and attach the knot of the wires to the skull. Clip off the excess zip tie end with scissors.

Step 4: Attach the Skull to the Pedestal

Drill a hole in the back of the skull that lines up with the pedestal screw. If using your own pedestal, make sure the skull is firmly attached and wire hidden through either the bottom of the skull (under the roof of the mouth) and through the pedestal mount.

The video below shows these steps in detail.
